Merve Caydere is an animation director, designer, and model maker specializing in stop-motion animation. Her background includes architecture, theatre, film, miniature effects, and fabrication for both animated and live-action productions.  

She was born in Ankara, Turkey. She holds a BFA degree in Interior Architecture. She is a graduate of California State University with an MFA in Theatre Arts, Set Design. 

Merve Caydere worked as an Assistant Art Director at Laika Animation Studios on the feature film Wildwood. She worked as a set designer on the Oscar winning stop motion animated feature film Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022). She directed two stop motion animated short films. Her animated short films The Mother of All Flowers and Steve & Steve were screened at festivals and won awards. 

She was selected for the Academy Gold program of Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in 2018 and invited to the Production Design Studio at Berlinale Talents 2021 edition.

She is currently writing an animated TV show screenplay and working on her YouTube show.
